• We're hosting a Hackathon. Are you up for the challenge?

    Join BetterCloud for a fun, FREE, and publicly open hackathon this March! Participating teams will be racing to detect suspicious activity within a billion Kafka messages, competing for the best visualization of security events, and creating the most addictive mobile game using geolocation. Prizes totalling $5000 will be given out to the top teams in each challenge. We'll provide food, drink and an even playing field, with each team receiving their own Cloud-based VM. Bring your own team or join one of our power players at this special event!

What challenges will I solve?

  1. Fastest discovery of suspicious logins Teams will race to detect suspicious activity within a millions of Kafka messages. (Kafka mentors available)
  2. Best visualization of security events Monitoring security events shouldn’t be boring; how can you make it engaging? (Front-end engineering mentors available)
  3. Most addictive mobile game Build a mobile app that combines geo-location and elements of Minecraft, and make it addictive (mobile iOS mentor available)

Is there an age requirement?

We ask that everyone attending the event is 21 or older.


Will there be food?

We will have great food (and beer) with vegetarian and gluten-free options. (You must be 21 to attend and/or consume alcohol)


What should I bring?

Bring your own device! We will provide a cloud-based VM for you. Bring a hoodie because it might get chilly!


Is there parking or transportation?

Parking is available behind the BetterCloud office. We are a 5 minutes walk to the Buckhead MARTA station.


Do you provide accommodations?

We are not providing free accommodations, but we have hotel recommendations! The Springhill Suites is a five minute walk to our office. We are also a 5 minute walk from the Buckhead station on MARTA’s red line if you choose to take the train.


What if I don’t know anything about Kafka, Front End, or Mobile Development?

We will have mentors available to help you out.


What about the code?

You own your code from this project and do not have to declare it open source after you’re finished. We are here to learn and have a great time.
